Stand straight with feet together. Measure barefoot from the top of the head straight down to the floor.

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of the chest/bust, keeping the tape horizontal and comfortably loose.

Try it on well before the event

We made the mistake of opening the package three days before her recital and had to rush a small alteration. Even on a shorter dress like this, give yourself time to check the bodice, sleeves and hem. Confirm dispatch and delivery dates separately — they're not the same thing.

Tulle skirt, velvet bodice — a dream

The pleated velvet bodice and the soft tulle skirt feel like two completely different dresses stitched together in the best way. We kept styling simple because the back bow and the fabric contrast were already doing so much. She twirled the whole night.
